Bitty Baby Bump
Halfway done! I am 20 weeks along now, 20 more weeks to go. Little baby Parker is a girl!!! Yay! About a month ago we had a friend of a friend of a friend, who just finished ultrasound tech school practice her skills on me. She said she was pretty sure we were having a girl, but couldn't get the best view ever since little lady had her legs crossed. We trusted her but didn't want to officially announce anything until we were 100% positive. Doug and my mom both said they felt like it was going to be a girl. Yesterday I had the official 20 week ultrasound and we clearly able to in between those tiny legs. Whew, we can officially throw away the receipts for the baby clothes we have purchased. We are so excited to be having a girl! No, we do not have a name picked out yet. We are still in the brainstorm phase. We have boy names that we both like, but for some reason girl names are just harder.
I am not sure what I thought pregnancy would be like, but I think it is living up to my expectations? The first trimester I certainly had my fill of morning sickness. Food aversions. Yuck. Basically the only food that ever sounded good was french fries. Chicken was a definite no. Yogurt, applesauce and other soft foods-- not a chance. I am pretty sure I lived on fruit snacks for a good six weeks there. It seems like everyday there was only one food that ever sounded good and that food was never in our fridge. Doug was such a good husband and always catered to my weird food moods. Bless that boy. He did the dishes everyday so I wouldn't have to deal with the soggy food and weird smells.
Now that we are in trimester two, things are much better. Food is delicious again! I was worried there for a little bit that it would never again taste good. But luckily, I can cook again without gagging and not only that, I can eat it too! I don't think I have had very many strange cravings. I did want sour gummy worms pretty bad last week. Not sure if that counts. Right now is the awkward stage where a stranger can't tell if I have a baby bump or just ate too much Easter candy. Maternity clothes are too big, but all my normal clothes are rapidly shrinking. Dressing myself is an interesting process in the morning. I have started to feel when she kicks and punches. It is such a strange, yet wonderful feeling. It is so hard to explain what it feels like. Like a gas bubble just poked you from the inside? I am not even sure if that visual makes sense. She gets really antsy when I have been leaning forward too long and tries her best to let me know I am squishing her. Other than that, the movements are pretty sporadic.
Right now the Parker house is a disaster area as we are in the process of packing for our move to Arizona. We will be in Phoenix all summer for an internship. We were lucky enough to find a furnished apartment so we don't have to lug everything down there. Everything else is going into a storage unit. How did we accumulate so much stuff? I am really excited for this new adventure and a chance to escape the Provo bubble for a bit. Not gonna lie, I am pretty worried about the heat though. Super hot weather plus being pregnant probably equals tons of smoothies and pool time. I guess I shouldn't complain about that! We hope to be back by mid-August so this baby better not be more than 3 weeks early! I don't think it has fully sunk in yet that in just a few short months I will have a baby! I am not old enough to have a baby! When did I become an adult so fast? Life is crazy.
